Requests for "School of Choice Transfers" are closed for the 2025 - 26 school year.

Summerwind Trails School, San Gorgonio Middle School, Mountain View Middle School, Tournament Hills Elementary, and Starlight Elementary School are at capacity and cannot accommodate transfers.
School of Choice Transfers
A "school of choice" transfer is also known as an "intra-district transfer." This request is made when you want to enroll in a school outside of your boundary school, but remain within the school district.

Inter-district Transfers
An "inter-district transfer" is made when you want your student to attend a school district other than the one associated with your residential address. This type of transfer may be made when you are looking to leave Beaumont USD or transfer to Beaumont USD. For example, you live within Riverside USD, but would like to attend a school in our District. Alternatively, you live within Beaumont USD area, but would like to attend Riverside USD.

Disclaimers Regarding School of Choice/Intra-district Transfers
- We have a responsibility to accommodate boundary students first, therefore, there is no guarantee of school of choice transfers being granted due to limited space.
- There is no guarantee you will be notified of your school of choice request before the first day of school.
- Continuous enrollment is contingent on good attendance and behavior.
- Students who have excessive absences and/or tardies to school may have their intra-district transfer permit revoked.
Disclaimers Regarding Inter-district Transfers
- Placement at a specific school is determined by the District, not the school site.
- Inter-district transfers will be accepted throughout the year.
- Inter-district transfer permits are only valid for the approved school year; therefore, must be renewed.
- Failure to meet the timelines will constitute an abandonment of the request.
- If your inter-district transfer is approved and conditions are not maintained, the transfer request may be revoked and the student may be required to return to their district of residence.
- If the student’s inter-district transfer request is denied, the District shall, in writing, notify the parent/guardians of their right to appeal to the County Board of Education within 30 calendar days from the date of final denial.
Inter-District Timelines
- We will accept new inter-district Transfer requests from February 3- March 31, 2025.
Families will be notified of acceptance or denial via email by July 18, 2025, if the transfer was turned in between Feb 3-March 31st. - Failure to meet our deadline will be decided on a case-by-case basis, and with no guarantee of transfer to the site you have chosen.
- For an inter-district transfer request received by the District 15 or fewer calendar days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the District will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received.
- For an inter-district transfer request received by the District more than 15 days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the inter-district transfer is sought, the District will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which transfer is sought.
- We will continue to accept inter-district transfers throughout the school year based on space availability.
Regulations and policies governing inter-district attendance permits
In accordance with Sections 46600 to 46609 of the Education Code, the school districts of Riverside county establish inter-district agreements annually, which provide for the exchange of pupils. The enrollment of pupils from districts, other than that of residence is not mandatory. If there is sufficient room in the district, school, and program of desired attendance, requests will be considered, provided the reasons are justifiable and in accordance with District governing Board Policy 5117; AR 5117.
Reasons for Approvals
- To meet the child care needs of the student, only as long as the student’s child care provider remains within district boundaries.
- To meet the student’s special mental or physical health needs as certified by a physician, school psychologist, or other appropriate school personnel.
- When the student has a sibling attending school in the receiving district, to avoid splitting the family's attendance
- To allow the student to complete a school year when the student’s parents/guardians have moved out of the district during that year.
- To allow the student to remain with a class graduating that year from an elementary, middle, or senior high school.
- To allow a high school senior to attend the same school attended as a junior, even if the student’s family moved out of the district during the junior year.
- When the parent/guardian provides written evidence that the family will be moving into the district in the immediate future and would like the student to start the school year in the district.
- When the student will be living out of the district for one year or less.
Reasons for Denials/Revocations
- The student has unsatisfactory attendance and/or tardies.
- The student has caused continued disruption.
- Academic progress is not being made.
- The District discovers false information was used.
